The Fellowship is pleased to present our summer movie preview. Once again we go down the list of movie releases for the summer season and talk about the ones we think will be interesting or funny. We might even spot a trend or two, and we just might make a joke here and there. And as always, our picks of the week.

What we're up to this week:

The Dead Hand #1 and Crude #1 - my picks from last week that I didn't get time to review for the website

Les is in Hawaii this week, and may be rubbing it in a bit :-)

Superman 80th Anniversary Collection, Jimmy's Bastards, Oblivion Song

Another vote for Superman with discussion, and teasing an announcement

Check out our sponsor page! Head to the website and click on the banners for Things From Another World! (Click through the TFAW banner on our site and we get a cut. Thank you!)

So many movies… not going to list them here - there are plenty of websites out there with lists. Just Google "summer movie list 2018" and you'll see them all.

Picks for the week of 4/25:

Abbott #4 (BOOM! Studios)

Demi-God #2 (IDW)

The Prisoner #1 (Titan)

Deep Roots #1 (Vault)

FUBAR: All Star trade (Alterna)

J. Scott Campbell's Danger Girl 20th Anniversary (IDW)

Aliens: Dust to Dust #1 (Dark Horse)

Actionverse #7 featuring Midnight Tiger (Action Lab)

Honorable Mention: Image Firsts - reprints of first issues at a $1 price point, as well as the Image+ anthology series for $1.25

Shoutouts:

We won't have a show next week due to life being weird - we'll be back the following week, of course

Manny the Martyr - thanks for letting us use your music; check them out by clicking the link

#PodernFamily - an awesome group of indie podcasters supporting each other; find a podcast on literally anything by searching the hashtag

You, dear listeners! Thanks for listening, and if you haven't yet, subscribe so you won't miss next week's exciting episode :-)

The Fellowship is pleased to present our suggestions for crossovers starring Valiant's cast of characters. We had a whole lot of fun coming up with pairings between the heroes of the Valiant universe and the heroes of other comics universes (we get a little obscure at times). A great opportunity, too, for our particular brand of silliness. And as always, our picks of the week.

What we're up to this week:

Analog #1 & Isola #1 - both Image titles, both very exciting first issues

Actually not watching The Walking Dead, apparently; also high praise for Won't You Be My Neighbor?

The Robert Asprin Myth series - great little fantasy novels, easy to consume, lots of pun - er, I mean fun ;-)

Batman: The Dark Knight Detective volume 1 - a cool throwback to the '60s TV series (from the late '80s?)

Check out our sponsor page! Head to the website and click on the banners for Things From Another World! (Click through the TFAW banner on our site and we get a cut. Thank you!)

We're teaming up Valiant's finest heroes with DC, Marvel, - hell, whoever we can think of! If you think of any cool ones, let us know on social media!

Picks for the week of 4/18:

Action Comics #1000 (DC)

Skyward #1 (Image)

Black Hammer: Age of Doom #1 (Dark Horse)

Cyanide and Happiness: A Guide to Parenting by Three Guys With No Kids (BOOM! Studios)

Jeepers Creepers #1 (Dynamite)

Diablo House #4 (IDW)

Honorable Mention: The Black Monday Murders volume 2 trade (Image)

Les' picks (since we lost him in the break): John Wick #2 (Dynamite) and Alien Bounty Hunter #1 (Vault)

Shoutouts:

National Siblings Day - hello, all you siblings out there

Congrats to Joe Illidge for the new gig at Valiant - If you're listening, bud, we want credit for any of this stuff you use :-p

Manny the Martyr - thanks for letting us use your music; check them out by clicking the link

And as always, our picks of the week.

What we're up to this week:

Catching up on Superman comics; "explaining" to the SO that binder clips and comics DO NOT go together EVER!

Caught up on TV; also bought the Batman game (from the last KS episode)

Picked up the Hawk & Dove trade from a few weeks ago; also really digging Scooby Doo Team Up

The Fellowship is pleased to present our celebration of the 50th anniversary of the film 2001: A Space Odyssey. We talk about its roots, its story, and its impact on the culture. It's a very influential movie in a lot of ways, and it's also a bit polarizing, so it's a fun one to discuss. And as always, our picks of the week.

What we're up to this week:

Lucy Dreaming #1 (Boom! Studios) & 2000AD Prog 2073 - books from last week that I would have reviewed had I had time; both are very cool

Norman trade (Titan) & Punks Not Dead #2 (IDW/Black Crown) - rebellious fun in both cases, though in very different ways

MAD Original Idiots: Will Elder - dude is a genius

Ready Player One - amazing movie, true to the book [It sparked a bit of a tangent, too. -m]

DC's Millenium collection - an awful lot like Secret Invasion, but 30 years earlier, and thanks to Joseph Illidge for recommending it :-)

Check out our sponsor page! Head to the website and click on the banners for Things From Another World! (Click through the TFAW banner on our site and we get a cut. Thank you!)

The Fellowship is pleased to present our discussion of stories that didn't quite go the way we had hoped. Some stories have an element or a twist that just doesn't sit right, and we're talking about a few examples that we've come up with. Some are minor, some are major, and some are rant-inducing. And as always, our picks of the week.

What we're up to this week:

The Complete Captain Marvel by Jim Starlin; also maybe bringing back a seasonal feature on the website???

The Fellowship is pleased to present our list of "amalgam" characters - that is, characters that are combinations of two (or more) existing comics characters, usually from different universes. We had some fun making up weird and wonderful new characters based loosely on some of our favorites, and we hope you will have fun too. And as always, our picks of the week.

What we're up to this week:

Two books last week that I missed - Frankenstein Alive! Alive! #4 (Bernie Wrightson's last work) and The October Faction: Supernatural Dreams #1

A new convert to the Kentucky Fried Movie, though maybe a bit awkwardly :-) and also Ice Cream Man (very creepy)

The Fellowship is pleased to present our list of movies or TV shows (mostly) that we think would translate well to the comics medium. Our choices range from obvious to obscure to downright goofy - you know, kind of like our collective taste in comics. And as always, our picks of the week.

What we're up to this week:

Do Not Adjust Your Set - one of the precursors of Monty Python's Flying Circus; I found 9 episodes on Amazon Prime (they also have a few eps of At Last The 1948 Show, the other precursor)

The Walking Dead is back, and Liz is less than happy (also a brief appearance by Phil, Liz's hubby - hi Phil!)

Les' Big Bag o' Nothing® - read a few books, nothing to write home about

Star Wars Rebels is ending soon - awesome show, going to miss it

Check out our sponsor page! Head to the website and click on the banners for Things From Another World! (Click through the TFAW banner on our site and we get a cut. Thank you!)

Movies/TV shows/other properties we think would make interesting comics:

Nah, you're going to have to listen to get the list. I'm not making it that easy on you ;-)

[Note: Les was partially right - there was the beginning of a comic based on the Illuminatus! Trilogy in the late '80s. It didn't last long. -m]

Oblivion Song #1 (Image)

Actionverse featuring Stray #6 (Action Lab)

Ballad of Sang #1 (Oni Press)

Spider King #1 (IDW)

The Fellowship is pleased to present our celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Planet of the Apes movie franchise. It's been a successful series of movies more than once, and also twice made into TV shows (animated and live action). And it's loaded with themes that are as relevant today as they were 50 years ago. And as always, our picks of the week.

What we're up to this week:

The Jetsons - very dramatic and well written; Strangers in Paradise - an intriguing start, to say the least

Ready for the return of The Walking Dead; also quitting smoking (yay Liz!) [Note: we get a bit personal here in support of Liz. Quitting smoking is hard, and we want her to succeed. -m]

Milk Wars (1-3) - bizarre but fun

Moon Knight Epic Collection - there's an awesome movie or Netflix series in there

Check out our sponsor page! Head to the website and click on the banners for Things From Another World! (Click through the TFAW banner on our site and we get a cut. Thank you!)

Congrats to all involved in making a sci-fi story work for 50 years. It's quite an accomplishment.

The Fellowship is pleased to present our conversation with Madeleine Holly-Rosing, creator of the Boston Metaphysical Society comic series. The latest chapter of the story, The Scourge of the Mechanical Men, is available now on Kickstarter. We chat with her about that book, about the Society in general, and about some of her other projects. And as always, our picks of the week.

What we're up to this week:

The Winter Olympics - it's fun watching kids get into it for the first time

Dallas Comic Show last weekend - a bit of (awesome) name-dropping

Liz is turning young minds to the ways of comics one at a time ;-)

Still trying to dig out old RPG stuff, and stumbled across old notes from the webcast (shows we did years ago, and a list of old show topics)

Check out our sponsor page! Head to the website and click on the banners for Things From Another World! (Click through the TFAW banner on our site and we get a cut. Thank you!)

Again, check out Boston Metaphysical Society: The Scourge of the Mechanical Men at the link, and get your copy reserved soon

And check out her website and say hi to her on Twitter @MHollyRosing

And while we're at it, Vietnamese steampunk

[Note: the Kasai campaign did end on Friday, before this show dropped. But we talked about it last week in episode 100, so hopefully you got in on it then. And it did fund, so yay :-) -m]
