The Fellowship is pleased to present our discussion of Batman, who is celebrating 80 years of publication this month. It goes without saying that Batman has been a very influential character, at times almost single-handedly carrying the load for superhero comics. We talk about his origins, how he's changed and grown, how rarely he cracks a smile, and a whole lot of other stuff. Plus our usual funny business, as well as our picks of the week.
Announcements:
Come hang out with us! We have monthly meetups on 2nd Saturdays in Garland, TX; details on Facebook & Twitter & the Events tab on our website
What we're up to this week:
Good time had by (almost) all last Saturday at the meetup 🙂; down to more Hellboy in the massive pile
Praise for Teen Titans GO! To The Movies; also Grant Morrison's Klaus series
A second for the Teen Titans flick; saw Captain Marvel, came away entertained but a bit confused and ready to discuss
Picked up some old trades, which were interesting reading
As you can tell, we could go on about Batman forever. The old man's got a lot of fans worldwide, and more than one host this little show 🙂
And a quick note: Wonder Woman 1984 is currently slated for release at the end of this year (2019). And Metropolis is in Illinois.
And the confusing moment: Ashley A. Woods is the artist for Dismantlers. Ashley Wood drew Zombies vs Robots. Understandable to mix them up, I'd say 😉
And aah, the joys of recording in four separate and non-professional "studios" - we had some distracting noises (including wind chimes; it was very windy that night) that I couldn't edit out, so apologies for that.
Picks for the week of 3/20:
Gretel #1 (Zenescope)
Lazarus Risen #1 (Image)
Dark Red #1 (Aftershock)
The Shape of Elvira #2 (Dynamite)
Nightwing #58 (DC)
Dungeons & Dragons: A Darkened Wish #1 (IDW)
Dismantlers #1 (Black Mask)
Firefly: Bad Company #1 (BOOM! Studios)
Honorable Mention: Batman Arkham: Ra's al Ghul collection (DC)
