The Fellowship is pleased to present our discussion of the state of Marvel under the Disney regime ten years in. What kind of impact did the buyout have on the comics? On the TV shows? On the movie franchise(s)? So many questions, not nearly enough answers, and a whole lot of other stuff. Plus our usual unusual behavior, as well as our picks of the week.

It ran for two seasons (alongside the Isis series) on Saturday mornings back in the day. We've got heroes, villains, some varying interpretations, and a whole lot of other stuff. Plus our usual strange perspectives, as well as our picks of the week.

The Fellowship is pleased to present our celebration of the 45th anniversary of The Punisher. He's a different kind of hero, and he had a hugely popular run in the '90s which put him on the popularity map. We talk about some history, some personality, some long-term impacts, and a whole lot of other stuff. Plus our usual funny business, as well as our picks of the week.

Announcements:
Come hang out with us! We have monthly meetups on 2nd Saturdays at our local comic shop (A Galaxy Called Dallas in Garland, TX); details on Facebook & Twitter to come soon

Check out our sponsor page! Head to the website and click on the banners for Things From Another World! (Click through the TFAW banner on our site and we get a cut. Thank you!)

Punisher is definitely an interesting character; he seems one-dimensional on the surface, but there's more there (or at least more potentially there) than we know.

The Fellowship is pleased to present our celebration of the 50th anniversary of Monty Python's Flying Circus. It's actually hard to list all of the different ways this show broke new ground. And it also happens to be some seriously funny stuff. We talk about the history, the comedy, the censors, the spam, and a whole lot of other stuff. Plus our usual silly walks, as well as our picks of the week.

Soooooo many Python quotes... 🙂
[Note: We mentioned KERA general manager Bob Wilson (even if we couldn't remember his first name), but programming manager Ron Devillier was also key in bringing Flying Circus to the states. -m]
[Another note: Monty Python Sings was released in December 1989, so extremely early '90s, right? 😉 -m]

The Fellowship is pleased to present our celebration of the 85th anniversary of Flash Gordon. It started out as a comic strip meant to compete with Buck Rogers, and stuck around in the funny papers for decades. It also crossed media, with movie serials, a radio show, and both live and animated TV series over the years. We even talk civilly about the 1980 film (somehow). Plus our standard silliness, as well as our picks of the week.

Announcements:
Come hang out with us! - we'll be starting monthly meetups in January at our local comic shop (A Galaxy Called Dallas in Garland, TX); details on Facebook & Twitter to come soon (first one is January 12th at 7pm)

What we're up to this week:
Prepping for a couple of future episodes 🙂; also picked up Super Suckers and Startup, two Sitcomics titles, and loved them
[and the promised link, www.sitcomics.net]
Vacation & reading - DC Nuclear Winter special, among others [kind of a tangent on the Branch Davidian compound]
Reading - the recent King Features collection, among others; also binged the Thin Man movies on TCM
Reading & the Twilight Zone marathon on Syfy

Check out our sponsor page! Head to the website and click on the banners for Things From Another World! (Click through the TFAW banner on our site and we get a cut. Thank you!)

This was a more complicated topic than we were expecting (but that's not a complaint). And if nothing else, we got another show idea out of it 🙂

The Fellowship is pleased to present our celebration of the year 2018. We had a lot of fun bringing stuff to you, and we hope you did too. So this week we just talked about some of the cool things we remember from this past year. We may or may not get a little ranty, so fair warning 🙂. Plus plenty of silliness to go around.

What we're up to this week:
Big Bag o' Nothing - sick over the weekend (and ever since)
Not much reading, but picked up a big stack of comics at the shop 🙂
Went to a screening of Superman: The Movie at a nearby high school, charity event for Christopher Reeve's foundation
Found a copy of the X-Men: The Hidden Years trade (out of print, hard to find); gathered a donation of toys for kids for Christmas, had an adventure dropping them off; Last Year: The Nightmare has dropped (new horror game)

Announcements at the end of the show, so keep listening 🙂

The comics world gave us a bit of controversy this year, to say the least. But was it a good year for comics? You'll just have to listen 🙂

No picks for the week of 12/26:
There's just nothing coming out. (OK, there are a few things, so go check them out. But not enough for us to choose picks from.)

Announcements:
No new episode from us next week - we'll be back and ready to go in 2019
Come hang out with us! - we'll be starting monthly meetups in January at our local comic shop (A Galaxy Called Dallas in Garland, TX); details on Facebook & Twitter to come soon (first one is January 12th at 7pm)

The Fellowship is pleased to present our celebration of the 25th anniversary of Batman: Mask of the Phantasm. It was a strong kick-off for Warner's DC animation, and they've been going strong ever since. We get into this one pretty deep, and we talk about some upcoming animated features too. Plus our usual oddness, as well as our picks of the week.

What we're up to this week:
Busy week, but I started Criminal Macabre Omnibus 1
Walking around like "a penguin with ghetto booty" - so a Big Bag o' Nothing [Liz threw out her back last week 😞 -m]
A December to Dismember movie event (Christmas-themed horror movies & shorts); new Christopher Mihm movie Guns of the Apocalypse is out now [Avengers 4 trailer/NASA tangent]
Streaming movies on Twitch - Birdemic, MST3K 10 Year Anniversary show, several others; also an Avengers Epic Collection [callback to our Kree-Skrull War episode]

Announcements at the end of the show, so keep listening 🙂

There are those who argue that this film is the best Batman movie ever made. It's certainly hard to argue against that point 🙂

The Fellowship is pleased to present our celebration of the 40th anniversary of Superman: The Movie. It's still widely considered the best superhero movie, and the story of its making is probably more dramatic than the film itself. We've got a ton of info and opinion here, and our usual funny business, as well as our picks of the week.

What we're up to this week:
No Liz this week - get better soon 🙂
No comics, but an NBA game (which the kid enjoyed)
Reading - Liberty Meadows vol 2, DC Nuclear Winter issue, Burroughs anthology
Big Bag o' Nothing - busy with not-fun stuff

Check out our sponsor page! Head to the website and click on the banners for Things From Another World! (Click through the TFAW banner on our site and we get a cut. Thank you!)

So much drama in the making of this movie, it's scary. Some tangents on the sequels, too, but given the diversity there, it's not surprising 🙂

Picks for the week of 12/12:
Vampirella vs Re-Animator #1 (Dynamite)
Planet of the Apes: The Simian Age one-shot (BOOM! Studios)
Sasquatch Detective #1 (DC)
Blackwood trade (Dark Horse)

Mega Ghost #1 (Albatross Funnybooks)
The Quantum Age #5 (Dark Horse)
Punisher Epic Collection: Circle of Blood (Marvel)
Jingle Belle: The Homemades' Tale one-shot (IDW)

The Fellowship is pleased to present our celebration of the 15th anniversary of the TV show Most Extreme Elimination Challenge (MXC) and the 30th anniversary of Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K). Two completely different, yet equally groundbreaking shows, and both were funny as hell. We've got quite a range of opinions on these two, and we sprinkle in our typical antics, as well as our picks of the week.

What we're up to this week:
Hellboy Omnibus, a Postal trade, a Kill or Be Killed trade (dark but awesome comics)
Another local convention (this one in Irving) - a couple of cool panels (Steranko, voice actors)
Road trip and dog rescue stuff instead of reading comics [way more important, too, as we all pointed out - kudos to Liz for taking on that kind of volunteer work 🙂 -m]
Batman: The Golden Age collection, Walt Simonson's Battlestar Galactica Artist Edition (beautiful)

Check out our sponsor page! Head to the website and click on the banners for Things From Another World! (Click through the TFAW banner on our site and we get a cut. Thank you!)

15 years of MXC! 30 years of MST! So much fun TV in the '80s and '90s. That's right, kids, this is what we did in high school and college rather than go to class 😉
[The show Les mentioned, the weird one from Tulsa, was Dr. Mazeppa Pompazoidi's Uncanny Film Festival and Camp Meeting, hosted by Gailard Sartain. You might not know the name, but you've seen him (yet another of our infamous "oh yeah, that guy" folks). See the link and you'll get it. -m]

Picks for the week of 12/5:
Barbarella Holiday Special (Dynamite)
Wizard Beach #1 (BOOM! Studios)
Hack/Slash vs Chaos! #1 (Dynamite)
Prodigy #1 (Image)
