The Fellowship is pleased to present our discussion of Tim Burton's Batman on or near the 30th anniversary of its release. This is one we all remember, including all of the merch, all of the cultural impact, and all of the controversy. There's clearly no such thing as an easy Batman, but we pull out some opinions on this one, along with a whole lot of other stuff. Plus our usual goofy behavior and our picks of the week.

Announcements:
Come hang out with us! We have monthly meetups on 2nd Saturdays in Garland, TX; details on Facebook & Twitter & the Events tab on our website

What we're up to this week:
Music documentaries - one on the Beatles (not so good) and one on Black Sabbath (better but kind of weirdly dated)
Not much this week - deferring to Les for his report (we were giving him a hard time pre-show)
Traveled to San Antonio last week for a big "celebrity" con - lots of fun, long hours, and rubbing of celebrity elbows 🙂
Discovered Pluto TV this week - latched onto the Classic Doctor Who channel

Check out our sponsor page! Head to the website and click on the banners for Things From Another World! (Click through the TFAW banner on our site and we get a cut. Thank you!)

Sorry about the sound quality - I cut as much of the storm noise out as I could, but the way we record makes it tough. Also, I can't believe we're still having spring storms this late in June here, but I guess stranger things have happened.

Picks for the week of 7/3:
Bettie Page: Unbound #2 (Dynamite)
Doom Patrol: Weight of the Worlds #1 (DC/Young Animal)
Analog #6 (Image)
Ignited #2 (Humanoids)
Dreadstar Rare Limited Definitive Edition Signed by Jim Starlin (Dynamite)
Lois Lane #1 (DC)
Postal: Deliverance #1 (Image)
Star Wars: Target Vader #1 (Marvel)
Honorable Mention: Cons de Fee: The Erotic Art of Wallace Wood (Fantagraphics)

Shoutouts:
It's official now that DC is shutting down the Vertigo imprint - it's been a huge influence over the years and will be sorely missed
Pop Goes The Culture podcast network - go check them out! 🙂
#PodernFamily - an awesome group of indie podcasters supporting each other; find a podcast on literally anything by searching the hashtag
Manny the Martyr - thanks for letting us use your music; check them out by clicking the link

The Fellowship is pleased to present our discussion of movies from the summer of 1984. It's one of those rare years that have so much going on that we couldn't (or didn't want to ) narrow it down. There are a ton of good movies that came out that year, including a few that we might come back to later, and a whole lot of other stuff. Plus getting back to our silly ways, as well as our picks of the week.

What we're up to this week:
Big Bag o' Nothing - I hate home ownership (and a rant about citizenship)
Dead Like Me on Hulu - pretty good, watched it on Hulu's recommendation; also some slightly awkward love for Jackyl and a rehash of the old Joker rant (sorry)
Comics (shocking, right?) - Star Trek: The Key Collection vol 5; Batman: The War Years
(and we're down one this week - Les will be back next week 🙂 )

The summer of 1984 gave us an impressive number of entertaining movies, no doubt about it.
And yes, I have to put the link to the Hall of Fame performance of While My Guitar Gently Weeps in here. Just go listen to it. It's mindblowing.

The Fellowship is pleased to present our conversation with writer Jason Inman. We had a nice discussion with him about his new book Super Soldiers: A Salute to the Comic Book Heroes and Villains Who Fought For Their Country, and we also talked about his podcast Geek History Lesson. There are a ton of interesting characters and stories in the book, and a whole lot of other stuff. Plus us behaving ourselves for the interview, as well as our picks of the week.

The Fellowship is pleased to present our discussion of the groundbreaking sci-fi/horror film Alien, released 40 years ago last month. For a movie that may have only been made to capitalize on the Star Wars phenomenon, it still managed to make its presence felt on its own terms. We talk about its creation, the impressive casting, its impact on us and on the culture, and a whole lot of other stuff. Plus our usual scary behavior, as well as our picks of the week.

What we're up to this week:
Prepping for the summer D&D game; also found a Tim Wilson comedy special on YouTube and laughed myself sad
Busy week with the dog rescue/shelter work (often very sad work)
Saddened by the passing of Leon Redbone this week, a unique musical talent who will be missed
Reading the homework for next week's interview 🙂

Gee, we started off with some dark stuff from the week, and then jump into a really dark movie. Not intentional, but it sure is coincidental 😉
But what a great movie, right? Seriously, if you haven't seen it, we highly recommend it. You might not want to be eating when the crew is, though.

The Fellowship is pleased to present our discussion of Gardner Fox and his contributions to comics. He was a prolific writer of comics from the Golden Age through the early 1980s, and there may be an argument that he rivals Stan Lee in terms of influence. We talk about his creations, his extensive credits listing, how he and Stan differed, and a whole lot of other stuff. Plus our usual weirdness, as well as our picks of the week.

Announcements:
Come hang out with us! We have monthly meetups on 2nd Saturdays in Garland, TX; details on Facebook & Twitter & the Events tab on our website

What we're up to this week:
25th anniversary hardcover reprint of the Bram Stoker's Dracula comic adaptation - amazing is an understatement
Rocko's Modern Afterlife; season 14 of Supernatural (perhaps a spoiler or two here, if you're concerned - and a wee tangent)
John Wick 3 - so many bullets, so little reloading
The Human Torch and The Thing: Strange Tales - The Complete Collection; Batman '66 trades

Gardner Fox had a long and successful career as a comics writer; his credit list is almost ridiculously long. He may not have been the ambassador that Stan Lee was, but his influence on the medium is unparalleled.
And fair warning, we wander off pretty far into the weeds after a while. Probably a rant that needed to happen, though.

Picks for the week of 6/5:
Militia #1 (Black Box Comics)
Lab Raider #1 (Black Mask)
Birthright #36 (Image)
Buffy the Vampire Slayer #5 (BOOM! Studios)
Paper Girls #29 (Image)
The Marvel Art of Skottie Young HC (Marvel)
Eclipse #16 (Image)
This Love So Brief (Action Lab)
Honorable Mention: City of Others 10th Anniversary Edition (Dark Horse)

Shoutouts:
Happy birthday, James!
