The Fellowship is pleased to present the official beginning of Halloween season, when we talk horror movies. We're starting off this month with Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948). The Fellowship is pleased to present our celebration of the 40th anniversary of the release of John Carpenter's Halloween. Maybe the first mainstream slasher film, and it still stands up today as a genuinely good movie. We all have some interesting and varied ideas, and we add our normal abnormality, as well as our picks of the week.

What we're up to this week:

Doug from the Who's Right Podcast needs our help after Hurricane Florence; he lost his home in North Carolina, so please help him out here if you are able. Thanks, gang :-)

Cleaning out the comics paraphernalia - getting rid of stuff so she can buy more stuff (please forgive the minor sound issue while Liz is talking - we fixed it after this)

Thomas' Big Bag 'o NothingĀ® - crazy week, don't want to talk about it

Check out our sponsor page! Head to the website and click on the banners for Things From Another World! (Click through the TFAW banner on our site and we get a cut. Thank you!)

40 years of Halloween - the birth of the slasher film, and a beautifully paced movie to boot; oh, and we're also looking forward to the new sequel coming soon to theaters

Sorry, guys, no new show this week. It's been a helluva week, and we just couldn't get it together. But we're back next week, and we're getting closer to October, so long-timers know what that means (it means we talk movies in October, and next week we've got a very apt one to kind of kick things off).

See you then, gang! Buy more comics and support your local stores!

The Fellowship is pleased to present a list of TV reboots or reunions that we'd like to see. There have been several successful ones recently, so we decided to try our hand at picking a few to suggest to the powers that be in TV land. We all have some interesting and varied ideas, and we add our usual silliness (maybe an extra dose tbh), as well as our picks of the week.

What we're up to this week:

Comics pile - DC 100-Page Giants, Knights of the Dinner Table, Kickstarter book on deck

Labor Day (hope everyone had a good one), caught up on Supernatural, Marvel movie marathon (tangent starts here, but it's a fun one)

Football game at the University of North Texas which featured a post-game wrestling card featuring the von Erich family (local pro wrestling legends) (and another tangent; I'm impressed by the sheer quantity of movie references in this thing ;-)

Thomas' Big Bag 'o NothingĀ® - not much going on this week

Check out our sponsor page! Head to the website and click on the banners for Things From Another World! (Click through the TFAW banner on our site and we get a cut. Thank you!)

TV reboots and reunions - topics like this are fun for us because we learn so much about, well, if we're being honest, useless stuff. But that's what makes it all fun, right?

Picks for the week of 9/12:

Moon Maid #1 (American Mythology)

Oblivion Song #7 (Image) with a bonus: the first trade is out this week, too

Helm volume 1 trade (Action Lab)

Archie 1941 #1 (Archie)

The Wrong Earth #1 (Ahoy Comics - new publisher)

Absolute Batman: The Killing Joke (DC)

Frankenstein Alive, Alive! The Complete Collection hardcover (IDW)

Star Trek vs Transformers #1 (IDW)

Honorable Mention: Mystery Science Theater 3000 #1 (Dark Horse)

Shoutouts:

Condolences to the families of Gary Friedrich and Marie Severin, comics legends who both passed away last week

Manny the Martyr - thanks for letting us use your music; check them out by clicking the link

#PodernFamily - an awesome group of indie podcasters supporting each other; find a podcast on literally anything by searching the hashtag

The Fellowship is pleased to present a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the film Night of the Living Dead. Arguably the king of all indie films, this was a truly groundbreaking horror film in so many ways. We all have lots of opinions on this one, and we add our normal weirdness, as well as our picks of the week.

What we're up to this week:

Catching up on comics - Dark Ark, Brothers Dracul, DC 100-Page Giants

Squee's Wonderful Big Giant Book of Unspeakable Horrors - from Jhonen Vasquez's Johnny the Homicidal Maniac comics (and a tangent on secrets)

Out of town over the weekend - a nice trip

Legion of Super Heroes: The Silver Age vol 1 - good overall, but some questionable content; also RetroFan magazine, from TwoMorrows Publishing; also Master of the World (1961) with Vincent Price & Charles Bronson

Check out our sponsor page! Head to the website and click on the banners for Things From Another World! (Click through the TFAW banner on our site and we get a cut. Thank you!)

50 years of Night of the Living Dead - an indie film, a cult classic, and the start of a long-running cultural obsession with zombies (even if they may not really be zombies)

[Note: when we rated the movie, I neglected to give my rating. I give it 8 out of 10. :-) -m]

Picks for the week of 9/5:

Marvel Knights Black Panther collection (Marvel)

Jinxworld Sampler #1 (DC)

The Dreaming #1 (DC/Vertigo)

James Bond Origin #1 (Dynamite)

Asgardians of the Galaxy #1 (Marvel)

Cover #1 (DC)

Die Kitty Die: Heaven & Hell #0 (Chapterhouse)

Elric: The White Wolf #1 (Titan)

Honorable Mention: Bully Wars #1 (Image)

Shoutouts:

Congrats to Liz on the grandbaby news :-)
