The Fellowship is pleased to present week 4 of Carpenter Month, featuring In the Mouth of Madness (1995). An investigator is asked to find a book and its author, and gets way more than he expected. No happy ending here, despite all the laughter. And as always, our picks of the week.

What we're up to this week:

Mikey's Big Bag o' Nothing® - busy week, not much comics happening

Les' Movie Chair - Comic Book: The Movie, Demon with the Atomic Brain (new Christopher Mihm movie), Phantom of the Paradise

New project in the works for the Fellowship (stay tuned)

The Fellowship is pleased to present week 3 of Carpenter Month, featuring Prince of Darkness (1987). A priest calls in a group of scientists to study a secret artifact which awakens and begins the apocalypse. Not one of his most celebrated works, to put it mildly. And as always, our picks of the week.

What we're up to this week:

Trade pile - Elric volume 1; cool and psychedelic

More trade pile - Shadow Year One (Dynamite), fun backstory; DK3 The Master Race, a really good story

Twitch watch - Cuphead, cool new game that's visually striking

Check out our sponsor page! Head to the website and click on the banners for Things From Another World! (Click through the TFAW banner on our site and we get a cut. Thank you!)

[Note: We realized during the break that we forgot to do ratings for this movie, but we decided that how we felt about it was already pretty clear :-) -m]

Picks for the week of 10/18:

Sherlock Frankenstein and the Legion of Evil #1 (Dark Horse)

Maestros #1 (Image)

Wrapped Up #1 (Lion Forge)

Kill the Minotaur #5 (Image)

Honorable Mention: Curse Words #9 (Image)

Honorable Mention: JLA: The Nail/Another Nail Deluxe Edition (DC)

Honorable Mention: EC Archives: Aces High collection (Dark Horse)

Special Mention: We've been doing stuff like this for 7 years now - the Fellowship's first webcast was October 19, 2010. This was back when Ustream was a new concept, and Twitch didn't exist yet. [I think Tom is trying to say we're old, in his own subtle way, as if we need reminding ;-) -m] And a lot of those old live shows are on our YouTube channel for your enjoyment. You know, in case you wanted to know what we looked like five years ago or whatever.

Shoutouts:

The Fellowship is pleased to present week 2 of Carpenter Month, featuring The Thing (1982). Antarctic researchers have to save the world from an alien doppleganger, and hijinks ensue. A box office bomb now considered one of the best horror films of all time. And as always, our picks of the week.

What we're up to this week:

Started watching Amazon's The Tick - so far so good

[Skype kind of squicked out on Les here. But it got better after this segment, I promise :-) -m]

Tangent: Superman's Reign - DC's "alternate world" run back in the 90s

Showcase Presents: The Atom - nice little origin collection

TCM [I think] showing 3 Dracula flicks consecutively - it's October, obviously :-) (also it's tangent time)

Facebook games - not so much the "cooperative" ones; Star Trek Timelines in particular; slightly addictive

Check out our sponsor page! Head to the website and click on the banners for Things From Another World! (Click through the TFAW banner on our site and we get a cut. Thank you!)

[Also, somewhere early in the discussion Thomas' microphone picked up a weird hum. Not a major deal, but an interesting sound effect had it been intentional :-) -m]

We didn't actually name the actor in the creature suit in the 1951 movie - it was James Arness (Marshal Dillon from Gunsmoke)

Picks for the week of 10/11:

Gotham City Garage #1 (DC)

Archie Halloween Spectacular (Archie)

KISS Vampirella #5 (Dynamite)

Dan Dare #1 (Titan)

The Fellowship is pleased to present the kickoff of our "secret project," which is that we're talking about John Carpenter movies for the month of October. The first installment is The Fog (1980), in which a group of murdered lepers seek revenge. And as always, our picks of the week.

What we're up to this week:

Mikey's Big Bag 'o Nothing® - family obligations, not much geek stuff

Thomas' Big Bag 'o Nothing® - working is the most fun he had this week

Hercules (1983) - Lou Ferrigno in the titular role; a bad movie's bad movie [Note: Rifftrax has not done this movie, but it's popular on their suggestions page. -m] And then tangent time :-)

Check out our sponsor page! Head to the website and click on the banners for Things From Another World! (Click through the TFAW banner on our site and we get a cut. Thank you!)

The Fellowship is pleased to present our discussion on the 100th birthday of comics legend Jack Kirby. Kirby is at least partly responsible for a huge chunk of what we know of today as Marvel Comics, and he did some groundbreaking work for DC as well. And as always, our picks of the week.
