The Fellowship is pleased to present our discussion of The Matrix on the 20th anniversary of its US release. It's one of our favorite movies (most of us, anyway), and it broke a lot of ground for effects work. We get deep into the history and impact of the film, with some tangents along the way, and a whole lot of other stuff. Plus our standard strange behavior, as well as our picks of the week.

Announcements:
Come hang out with us! We have monthly meetups on 2nd Saturdays in Garland, TX; details on Facebook & Twitter & the Events tab on our website

What we're up to this week:
Trade pile - Gideon Falls vol 1; Kickstarter pile - Aurora and the Eagle #1 from our old pal Ashley Robinson
Amanda Conner art book continued, and the latest Zack Snyder drama (major soapbox tangent which guarantees the explicit tag for this week 🙂), also, The Act on Hulu is worth checking out, as well as Paradise Lost on HBO
More documentaries - The Case Against Adnan Syed (HBO); also the trailer for Yesterday
Back to the trade pile - JSA: The Golden Age and JLA Year One; one more documentary - Wilder is coming soon
And oh yeah, Supernatural is ending, so Liz needed a moment

Check out our sponsor page! Head to the website and click on the banners for Things From Another World! (Click through the TFAW banner on our site and we get a cut. Thank you!)

The Matrix was a groundbreaking film to say the least. Oh, and "the least" is what we plan to say about the sequels.
Also, Bill & Ted 3? Could be interesting...

The Fellowship is pleased to present our discussion of Dungeons & Dragons and its 45 years of history, stories, and sometimes troubles. It's a game that has gone from accusations of Satan worship to a recent popularity blast thanks to livestreaming and podcasting in a couple of decades. Oh, and it's a lot of fun to play 🙂. We get down and dirty with it, talking history, telling stories, and a whole lot of other stuff. Plus our usual weirdness, as well as our picks of the week.

The Fellowship is pleased to present our discussion of Batman, who is celebrating 80 years of publication this month. It goes without saying that Batman has been a very influential character, at times almost single-handedly carrying the load for superhero comics. We talk about his origins, how he's changed and grown, how rarely he cracks a smile, and a whole lot of other stuff. Plus our usual funny business, as well as our picks of the week.

Announcements:
Come hang out with us! We have monthly meetups on 2nd Saturdays in Garland, TX; details on Facebook & Twitter & the Events tab on our website

What we're up to this week:
Good time had by (almost) all last Saturday at the meetup 🙂; down to more Hellboy in the massive pile
Praise for Teen Titans GO! To The Movies; also Grant Morrison's Klaus series
A second for the Teen Titans flick; saw Captain Marvel, came away entertained but a bit confused and ready to discuss
Picked up some old trades, which were interesting reading

Check out our sponsor page! Head to the website and click on the banners for Things From Another World! (Click through the TFAW banner on our site and we get a cut. Thank you!)

As you can tell, we could go on about Batman forever. The old man's got a lot of fans worldwide, and more than one host this little show 🙂
And a quick note: Wonder Woman 1984 is currently slated for release at the end of this year (2019). And Metropolis is in Illinois.
And the confusing moment: Ashley A. Woods is the artist for Dismantlers. Ashley Wood drew Zombies vs Robots. Understandable to mix them up, I'd say 😉
And aah, the joys of recording in four separate and non-professional "studios" - we had some distracting noises (including wind chimes; it was very windy that night) that I couldn't edit out, so apologies for that.

Picks for the week of 3/20:
Gretel #1 (Zenescope)
Lazarus Risen #1 (Image)
Dark Red #1 (Aftershock)
The Shape of Elvira #2 (Dynamite)
Nightwing #58 (DC)
Dungeons & Dragons: A Darkened Wish #1 (IDW)
Dismantlers #1 (Black Mask)
Firefly: Bad Company #1 (BOOM! Studios)
Honorable Mention: Batman Arkham: Ra's al Ghul collection (DC)

The Fellowship is pleased to present our Casting Call for a new Flash Gordon movie. We talked about the long-running comic strip a few weeks back, and that got us in the mood to try to erase the 1980 movie by making a better one today. We got new ideas, we got new tech (and some throwbacks), we got movie stars, and a whole lot of other stuff. Plus our usual goofy behavior, as well as our picks of the week.

Announcements:
Come hang out with us! We have monthly meetups on 2nd Saturdays in Garland, TX; details on Facebook & Twitter & the Events tab on our website
Les and Thomas are making a special appearance on the Rantcor Pit show (hosted by Cole Houston and our old pal Eddie Medina), which you can check out on DallasOnAir.com - look for them there on Sunday 3/17 at 10:30am CT! You should also check out Eddie and Colleen Medina on their show Figments at 9:30, same place 🙂

What we're up to this week:
Final issue of Strangers in Paradise XXV, which spins straight into Five Years, coming in May
Still sorting and rearranging the collection, and still looking for a new LCS
Wandering around the house, getting into Babyteeth
Not much reading, except for Moon Cop

We honestly didn't plan how different our takes on our made-up Flash Gordon movie ended up. Somehow each of the four of us came at it from a unique angle, and we didn't do it on purpose 🙂
Also, Skype was just a little bit twitchy on Tuesday night, so apologies for the occasional odd hiccup.

The Fellowship is pleased to present our discussion of the cultural impact of Seduction of the Innocent. This was a book written in 1954 by a prominent psychiatrist which was less than kind to the comics industry (to put it mildly). We talk about the Comics Code, EC Comics, censorship, weird Facebook ads, and a whole lot of other stuff. Plus our usual silliness, as well as our picks of the week.

Announcements:
Come hang out with us! We have monthly meetups on 2nd Saturdays in Garland, TX; details on Facebook & Twitter & the Events tab on our website

What we're up to this week:
Finished my big Tick book, and acquired a bunch more comics
Picked up too many comics, and tried to reorganize the "hoard"
Not much going on, just buying more comics
"A lot going on this week"; also next meetup is March 9 - check the website or the Facebook event for the venue change; this month we're at Wing City, and big thanks to Robbie for letting us hang out

Check out our sponsor page! Head to the website and click on the banners for Things From Another World! (Click through the TFAW banner on our site and we get a cut. Thank you!)

Please note that this is not intended to be a review of the book itself. We're just talking about the history of the book's impact on the comics industry.
Note: the Code was upheld by all major publishers until Marvel dropped it in 2001. The last major publisher dropped in 2011, effectively ending the era of the Comics Code Authority.
Also, Les mentions Gaines; he's referring to Max Gaines, founder of EC Comics, and his son William, who took over when Max died in an accident.

Picks for the week of 3/6:
Fantastic Four #7 (Marvel)
Astro Hustle #1 (Dark Horse)
The Maxx 100-Page Giant (IDW)
Self-Made #4 (Image)
JLA: New World Order collection (DC)
Paper Girls #26 (Image)
Morning in America #1 (Oni Press)
Black Hammer '45 #1 (Dark Horse)
Honorable Mention: Disney Don Quixote Starring Goofy and Mickey Mouse (Dark Horse)

Shoutouts:
Our buddy Juan had a bit of a scare, and we're glad to hear that he's on the mend - get well soon, Juan!
Our local comic shop (we all bought there, and a couple of us worked there) closed its doors after 4+ years in business - please support your local shops, everyone
On a happier note, we're celebrating our third anniversary of this little podcast 🙂
Manny the Martyr - thanks for letting us use your music; check them out by clicking the link

We each have our own take on the acquisition of comics, toys, games, what have you. Buckle in for a long chat, folks, because we got tangents galore and a whole lot of other stuff. Plus more than our usual share of silliness, as well as our picks of the week.

The Fellowship is pleased to present our discussion of the Godzilla film franchise. We hear tell that it's the longest running movie franchise in history, and it's got a huge following all over the world. It's also got some hits and some misses, and we might name a few names there. So many movies, so much destruction, and a whole lot of other stuff. Plus our usual cracking ourselves up, as well as our picks of the week.
