The Fellowship is pleased to present the next movie on our funny horror movie list, Young Frankenstein (1974). Even Mel Brooks thinks this is the greatest Mel Brooks film (or so we’ve heard), and Gene Wilder wrote one hell of a script. We all have opinions and trivia, and we add our usual flair, as well as our picks of the week.

What we're up to this week:

Still catching up on comics - Brothers Dracul, Real Science Adventures, Comic Book Implosion

A horror movie a day; Batman Damned (tangent of sorts on the “Bat-Wang” controversy); Bully Wars; Nightmare Before Christmas manga

Annual reread of Something Wicked This Way Comes; Scared Silly DVD collection (13 old comedy-horror movies, including Little Shop of Horrors, which sparks a brief tangent)

The new Doctor Who debuted; catching up on reading

Check out our sponsor page! Head to the website and click on the banners for Things From Another World! (Click through the TFAW banner on our site and we get a cut. Thank you!)

Horror Movie Month! - this week we're loving Young Frankenstein, such a well written and well played movie with a clear reverence for the source material

[Note: Mel Brooks: Make a Noise (2013) was the documentary I was talking about. -m]

Picks for the week of 10/17:

Lucifer #1 (DC/Vertigo)

Gideon Falls #7 (Image) - also the first trade is out this week, and congrats to them on the TV deal

The Three Stooges: Monsters & Mayhem special (American Mythology)

Real Science Adventures: The Nicodemus Job #4 (IDW)

Doctor Strange Epic Collection: Master of the Mystic Arts (Marvel)

Spook House 2 #3 (Albatross)

Honorable Mention: Strangers in Paradise XXV #7 (Abstract Studios)

The Fellowship is pleased to present the next movie on our funny horror movie list, Student Bodies (1981). This is a movie with strong Texas roots, and though it didn’t do a ton of box office, it still has a pretty good lock on spoofing the slasher flick. We all have opinions and trivia, and we add our usual weirdness, as well as our picks of the week.

What we're up to this week:

Finally finished Secret Wars and can move on to other comics

31 Days of October - watching something Halloween related every day

A1: The World’s Greatest Comics - collection of British comics; also Q: The Winged Serpent - a movie that maybe isn’t as good as the A1 collection ;-)

(a bit of a tangent here about… well, you’ll see)

Batman: The Brave and The Bold Bronze Age collection - an interesting read; also ASMR on Twitch - helpful for trying to wind down (some of us need that, y’know?)

Check out our sponsor page! Head to the website and click on the banners for Things From Another World! (Click through the TFAW banner on our site and we get a cut. Thank you!)

Horror Movie Month! - this week we’re talking Student Bodies, possibly the first horror spoof

Also some interesting details along the way (but maybe I’m weird that way)

Picks for the week of 10/10:

Albert Einstein: Time Mason #1 (Action Lab)

reMIND #1 (Titan)

Devil Within #1 (Black Mask)

The Fellowship is pleased to present our celebration of the 40th anniversary of the release of John Carpenter's Halloween. Maybe the first mainstream slasher film, and it still stands up today as a genuinely good movie. We all have some interesting and varied ideas, and we add our normal abnormality, as well as our picks of the week.

What we're up to this week:

Doug from the Who's Right Podcast needs our help after Hurricane Florence; he lost his home in North Carolina, so please help him out here if you are able. Thanks, gang :-)

Sorry, guys, no new show this week. It's been a helluva week, and we just couldn't get it together. But we're back next week, and we're getting closer to October, so long-timers know what that means (it means we talk movies in October, and next week we've got a very apt one to kind of kick things off).

See you then, gang! Buy more comics and support your local stores!

The Fellowship is pleased to present a list of TV reboots or reunions that we'd like to see. There have been several successful ones recently, so we decided to try our hand at picking a few to suggest to the powers that be in TV land. We all have some interesting and varied ideas, and we add our usual silliness (maybe an extra dose tbh), as well as our picks of the week.

What we're up to this week:

Comics pile - DC 100-Page Giants, Knights of the Dinner Table, Kickstarter book on deck

Labor Day (hope everyone had a good one), caught up on Supernatural, Marvel movie marathon (tangent starts here, but it's a fun one)

Football game at the University of North Texas which featured a post-game wrestling card featuring the von Erich family (local pro wrestling legends) (and another tangent; I'm impressed by the sheer quantity of movie references in this thing ;-)

Thomas' Big Bag 'o Nothing® - not much going on this week

Check out our sponsor page! Head to the website and click on the banners for Things From Another World! (Click through the TFAW banner on our site and we get a cut. Thank you!)

TV reboots and reunions - topics like this are fun for us because we learn so much about, well, if we're being honest, useless stuff. But that's what makes it all fun, right?

Picks for the week of 9/12:

Moon Maid #1 (American Mythology)

Oblivion Song #7 (Image) with a bonus: the first trade is out this week, too

Helm volume 1 trade (Action Lab)

Archie 1941 #1 (Archie)

The Wrong Earth #1 (Ahoy Comics - new publisher)

Absolute Batman: The Killing Joke (DC)

Frankenstein Alive, Alive! The Complete Collection hardcover (IDW)

Star Trek vs Transformers #1 (IDW)

Honorable Mention: Mystery Science Theater 3000 #1 (Dark Horse)

Shoutouts:

Condolences to the families of Gary Friedrich and Marie Severin, comics legends who both passed away last week

Manny the Martyr - thanks for letting us use your music; check them out by clicking the link

#PodernFamily - an awesome group of indie podcasters supporting each other; find a podcast on literally anything by searching the hashtag

Check out our sponsor page! Head to the website and click on the banners for Things From Another World! (Click through the TFAW banner on our site and we get a cut. Thank you!)

50 years of Night of the Living Dead - an indie film, a cult classic, and the start of a long-running cultural obsession with zombies (even if they may not really be zombies)

The Fellowship is pleased to present a celebration of the 40th anniversary of the original Battlestar Galactica TV series. It didn't last long, and the sequels were never quite as solid, but it still broke some ground in sci-fi television. Lots of reminiscing and our usual odd behavior, as well as our picks of the week.

[Apologies for the Skype twitching at the beginning. It goes away pretty quick, I promise :-) -m]

Check out our sponsor page! Head to the website and click on the banners for Things From Another World! (Click through the TFAW banner on our site and we get a cut. Thank you!)

40 years of Battlestar Galactica - it may not have been on the air for long, but it had a lot of staying power otherwise

The Fellowship is pleased to present a pair of graphic novel reviews. This week we read two graphic novels so that we could review and discuss them for your entertainment. The books are very different, and the discussion was interesting and fun. But hey, it's us, so we have our normal silly moments, as well as our usual picks of the week.

What we're up to this week:

The Rock Show with Gully and Joe - metal podcast that went away for a while, but now they're back! Go check them out

Les' Big Bag o' Nothing® - hung out at the LCS, didn't get much done
